Hurricane Michael Resources

Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier and the Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) are committed to ensuring that companies assess damage from Hurricane Michael and pay claims quickly.

OIR’s Incident Management Team remains fully activated and will have representatives at the State Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee. OIR team members will be actively working throughout the recovery phase with consumer advocates, industry stakeholders and entities licensed under OIR’s regulatory authority.

Hurricane Claims Data

In the event of a hurricane or other natural disaster causing catastrophic damage in the state of Florida, it will likely become necessary for the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (Office) to institute a data call for the purposes of collecting claims and other relevant information from insurance companies. This authority is mandated pursuant to Section 624.307, Florida Statutes.
