TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) is highlighting the leadership efforts made in 2021 to protect Floridians. “Thanks to Governor DeSantis’ leadership, the steps taken this year highlight Florida’s commitment to protecting insurance consumers,” said Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier. “In one of the most complex markets in the world, Florida has continued to pursue insurance regulatory efforts and reforms that remain focused on consumer protection and provide meaningful long-term stability to our markets.” The following items highlight the actions taken in 2021.

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) released the following statement today in support of Governor Ron DeSantis’ 2022-2023 budget recommendations: “Governor DeSantis’ budget recommendations exemplify his commitment to protecting Florida consumers and businesses. The Freedom First Budget provides OIR with the necessary resources to continue to maintain a stable and competitive insurance market for consumers,” said Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier issued a Final Order granting approval to the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) for a statewide overall workers’ compensation insurance rate decrease of 4.9%. The rate decrease applies to both new and renewal workers’ compensation insurance policies effective in Florida as of January 1, 2022.

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) announced today that premiums for Florida individual major medical plans in compliance with the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) have been approved for plan year 2022.

​Tallahassee, Fla. - Following Governor DeSantis’ Executive Orders 21-150 and 21-151 in response to Tropical Storm Elsa, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) issued the following notice to all health insurers, managed care organizations and other health entities licensed by OIR. This notice is a reminder that all health insurers, managed care organizations, and other health entities must comply with must comply with the provisions of section 252.358, Florida Statutes, which allows for early prescription refills in the event that the Governor issues an Executive Order declaring a State of Emergency or when a county Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is activated.
