  • Notice to Industry: OIR's Office of Inspector General Seeks CFA Reaccreditation

    The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation's (OIR) Office of Inspector General (OIG) will be undergoing an assessment by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) in an effort to retain accredited status. On December 15, 2022, the CFA assessment team will examine all aspects of OIR's OIG Investigations Section, including policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services.

    Following Governor DeSantis' Emergency Order 22-256, and pursuant to sections 252.63(1) and 627.4133(2)(d)1., Florida Statutes, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation issued Emergency Order 302804-22 for Hurricane Nicole and Hurricane Ian.
  • NOTICE TO INDUSTRY: Florida Law Reminder for Early Prescription Refills for Subtropical Storm Nicole

    This notice is a reminder that all health insurers, managed care organizations, and other health entities must comply with provisions of section 252.358, Florida Statutes, which allows for early prescription refills in the event the Governor issues an Executive Order declaring a State of Emergency. This mandate remains in effect until the Governor’s Executive Order is rescinded or expires. Please be governed accordingly.
  • OIR Approves an 8.4% Decrease in Workers' Compensation Insurance Rates for 2023

    Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier issued a Final Order granting approval to the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) for a statewide overall workers’ compensation insurance rate decrease of 8.4 percent. The rate decrease applies to both new and renewal workers’ compensation insurance policies effective in Florida as of January 1, 2023.
  • Notice to Industry:  Electric Vehicle Safety Tips for Consumers

    Recently, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis issued a consumer alert to warn Floridians about the dangers of electric vehicle fires caused by submersion in saltwater, which are associated with impacts from Hurricane Ian. The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) is providing the consumer alert for insurers to share with policyholders.
